Gaza
The Gaza strip gets its name from its largest city, Gaza. It has a population of 1.34 million people and is about 360 square kilometers. The strip and its population is under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority. GDP per capita is 600 U.S. dollars. Since September of 2005, there are no Israeli settlements or military bases inside of the Gaza strip. However, Israel still controls the waterways and airspace. The European Union supervises the Rafah Border Crossing into Egypt. According to the CIA factbook, 60% of the population of the Gaza strip lives under the international poverty line. Some towns in the Gaza strip are Gaza City, Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, Deir al-Balah, Jabalia, Khan Yunis, and Rafah.
